Famed Buddhist master from Tibet coming to town - The Star, Monday May 20, 2013

A POPULAR Tibetan Buddhist master will be visiting Penang on Thursday until May 28 to give blessings to devotees.

Kyabje Choden Rinpoche (pic), who is the spiritual head of Ananda Dharma Centre at San Jose, California, United States, will be at Chokyi Gyaltsen Centre at 37-Y, Lorong Zoo 1, Air Itam, during this period.

At 2pm on Friday, Choden Rinpoche will conduct the Cha Sum Puja, which is a powerful ritual to eliminate obstacles in one’s life and spiritual practice.
Choden Rinpoche will also conduct a White Umbrella Deity Initiation at 2pm on Saturday and an oral transmission of the Medi-cine Buddha Sutra at 7.30pm on May 28.
Admission is free.
Choden Rinpoche is regarded as one of the great masters of today and is particularly famed for his pure moral conduct. He has taught worldwide and at the Foundation for Preservation of Mahayana Tradition centres at Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s request.
When Tibet was invaded in 1959, Choden Rinpoche went into solitary retreat for 19 years. He never left his tiny dark room in Lhasa.
In 1985, he was allowed to leave Tibet for India. Since then, he has taught thousands of students at Sera Jey Monastery in South India, and in Dharma centres around the world.
