CGC's PROGRAMME ON SAKA DAWA (JUNE 2 TO 15, 2011)

Saka Dawa is one of the most important sacred Buddhist days as it commemorates Lord Buddha's birth, enlightenment, and Parinirvana. This year Saka Dawa runs from June 2 – June 15.

During this particularly auspicious time of the year, practitioners place special emphasis on Dharma practice like circumambulation of monasteries and stupas, prostrations, taking precepts, reciting mantras, offering mandalas, doing sadhanas and saving animal’s lives, etc. All the merits of virtuous actions done on these days are multiplied one hundred million times.

At CGC, we have also lined up daily activities during this extremely important period. Please see below on the calendar of events for Saka Dawa and please join us everyday or as many days as you can.

Let us use this precious opportunity to accumulate merit, purifying our karma, and benefit all sentient beings. REJOICE!

Note: If you have a copy of the “Chant a Mantra” blue booklet, please bring along with you for use during Mantra Recitation. Thank you.

If you’d like to make offerings at CGC during this time, you’re most welcome to do so before teachings or prayers begin. You can bring along your own offerings or alternatively you can offer butter lamps which is available at CGC with a small donation. For more information on offerings please contact Ms. Loo Bee Bee at 012-4912528 or Mr. Vincent Yeoh at 012-4285528.
