Ganden Tripa Rinpoche Visits Penang 8 to 14 June 2013

Dear Dharma brothers & sisters,
We are extremely pleased to announce that His Eminence Ganden Tripa Rinpoche, who is the supreme spiritual head of the Gelugpa Buddhist tradition worldwide, will be visiting Penang from June 8 to June 14 2013 with CGC being one of the co hosts for this extremely rare visit by His Eminence.
Rinpoche will arrive at the Penang International Airport on June 8 (Saturday) at about 5pm.
It is very auspicious to greet and welcome our teacher when he comes to your area. Please join us and help show him how welcomed he is and how happy we are to see him! (CGC members and members of the public are all invited to welcome the arrival of His Eminence Ganden Tripa Rinpoche)
If you have a khata, please bring it along to offer it to Rinpoche as sign of auspiciousness and purity. You can also bring flowers for the welcoming.
Below is the brief introduction on Ganden Tripa Rinpoche:
Ganden Tripa Rinpoche was born in Ladakh in the early 1930s and he is recognized and enthroned as a child as the reincarnation of the founder of Rizong Hermitage.
He was appointed by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama as Abbot both of Gyumed Tantric Monastery and of Drepung Loseling, two of the main Gelugpa monasteries.
Rinpoche was appointed as the Ganden Tripa, the spiritual head of the Gelugpa lineage, on October 26, 2009 in Dharamsala, India.
Rinpoche has made the practice of meditation his principal focus in life, and has conducted numerous extensive retreats, including a three-year tantric retreat on the Yamantaka mandala in a remote hermitage in Ladakh. He is known for his achievements in practice and scholarship in both the sutra and tantra traditions.
The Ganden Tripa is the supreme spiritual head of the Gelugpa Buddhist tradition worldwide. This position stretches back in an unbroken lineage to Lama Tsongkhapa, who founded Ganden Monastery in 1409, who then passed on this prestigious position in an unbroken lineage to the 102nd throne holder today.
This highly esteemed position as Ganden Throne-holder is attained through a vigorous selection process which requires years of extensive training and service in the highest ranking position in the monastic institution.
In the history of Ganden Tripa, they are not only supreme spiritual head of Gelugpa but they were tutors and spiritual advisers to young Dalai Lamas and regents of Dalai Lamas during their absence. Some occasions in history, Ganden Tripas had responsibility to find reincarnation of Dalai Lamas.
Below are his programmes while in Penang:-
