Dear All,

There are 3 special important occasions to be held at Chokyi Gyaltsen Centre in November. The first is the consecration-cum-puja for Wealth Vase on November 13 at 3.00 pm. The second occasion is the holding of Medicine Buddha Puja on Nov 10 at 8.00 pm and the third important occasion is Shakyamuni Buddha Puja on Nov 17 at 8.00 pm.

Nov 10 and Nov 17 are special days when merits are multiplied by 100 million times.
Of course, any negative action or bad karma we create on these 2 days are also multiplied by 100 milllion times. So please be very careful on what we do on these 2 days.
You are welcome to offer candle lights to the Buddha at the centre during these special days. You can email us and bank in to our Public Bank Account No. 3144257518.

Each Butter Light costs RM10.
After you have banked in the payment, kindly let us know for recording purposes.

The story of Master Hong Yi

The Chokyi Gyaltsen Centre (CGC) in Penang is organising a charity show titled Above Full Moon to raise funds for its building.
The show promises audiences a deep insight into the history of the life of Master Hong Yi (Li Shu Tong) and his forbearance during the turbulent days of the Qing Dynasty.
Created by director Ho Lin Huay and composer Imee Ooi, this full-length musical about the Buddhist monk is in Mandarin with English subtitles.
Before he became a monk, Li Shu Tong excelled in poetry, calligraphy, painting and music.
In 1916, he underwent a 17-day fast at a temple and experienced the benefits of spiritual life, and took refuge in the Three Jewels in Buddhism in 1917.
Master Hong Yi was also a teacher of arts history and music at various colleges and pioneered the teaching of Western music in China.
The show will be staged at Dewan Sri Pinang from Sept 23 to 26, and tickets are priced at RM150, RM100, RM70 and RM50.
Showtime is from 8pm to 11pm, and there will also be an additional show on Sept 25, from 2pm to 5pm.
Those who sponsor or donate RM5,000 or RM1,000 and above to the CGC will be presented with a 30cm and 15cm blessed and consecrated Matreiya Buddha statue respectively, and two VIP seat tickets each.
The VIP tickets are for the premier show on Sept 23.
The CGC is located at 37-Y, Lorong Zoo 1, Air Itam Penang. For details, call Susan (012-3450528), Jennifer (012-5227889), Yin Peng (012-4269839), Bee Bee (012-4912528).

Musical on legendary monk

A MUSICAL depicting the fascinating and dramatic legend of Li Shu Tong, who became a Buddhist monk known as Master Hong Yi during the turbulent days of the Qing Dystany, will be staged in George Town this September.
Music on Stage Production from Kuala Lumpur will be producing Above Full Moon at the Dewan Sri Pinang from Sept 23 to 26.
The show, organised by SMJK Phor Thay and Chokyi Gyaltsen Centre (CGC), tells of Li Shu Tong revolutionising China with his flamboyant artistry in painting, music, poetry, drama and arts education.
It will be staged from 8pm until 11pm except on Sept 25 when the show is from 2pm until 5pm.
Above Full Moon was created by director Ho Lin Huay and composer Imee Ooi following their successful collaboration in Siddhartha The Musical last year.
Organising chairman Datin Goh Suat Guat said the show, aimed at raising funds to build an indoor sports centre at SMJK Phor Thay, would feature 50 Malaysian performers.
For tickets, priced at RM50 to RM150, call the SMJK Phor Thay School Board at 04-6442772/04-2623101, Than Hsiang Temple at 04-6414822, or CGC at 012-4386228 (Datin Goh) or 012-5227889 (Jennifer).
